After gaining township in 1875, the town has played an important role throughout American history. Both George Washington and George Mason served as vestrymen in the community’s early years, and later, the Confederate army took up residence during the civil war, making use of its amazing views of Washington D.C. 

Nowadays, the community is known for its picturesque scenery, small-town charms, and numerous outdoor recreational areas, making it the perfect location for young professionals and families.

Ireland’s Four Provinces is another local favorite. This fun and friendly eatery ensure’s guests experience the genuine warmth and hospitality of Ireland every time they walk through the doors. Their menu includes dishes such as potato and leek soup, Irish sausage rolls, cottage pie, and corned beef and cabbage.

For special occasions, residents can’t beat an evening out at 2941 Restaurant. This New American fine dining experience offers guests a choice of prix fixe and chefs tasting menus and is widely considered one of the best restaurants in the Washington D.C. area.

The community’s proximity to D.C. means there is no shortage of things for Falls Church residents to do during their free time. However, even if they don’t feel like making the short drive into the city, there’s plenty to do right in town. 

The Falls Church Farmers Market is one of the most popular weekend destinations for residents. Offering some of the highest quality local produce and goods, residents can buy directly from the producers and help support local agriculture and tradition. There are also numerous boutiques and family-run shops right in town, which locals make every effort to support. 

Cherry Hill Park is a great place to spend the afternoon with the family. Not only does it offer a picturesque green area to relax in, but the park also has a horseshoe court, basketball court, tennis courts, volleyball area, and grills for residents to have picnics. The community's annual Summer Concert Series is also held in this park, allowing visitors to enjoy some fun local music.
