Welcome to Alexandria

A beautiful historic town just across the river from Washington D.C.

Nestled just across the river from Washington D.C.’s National Mall lies one of Virginia’s most exclusive and desirable communities. While Alexandria may have once been a port town taken advantage of by tobacco factories, the town is now a vibrant mix of stunning art galleries, boutique shops, and exceptional restaurants.

Residents feel as if they’ve stepped back in time as they wander through the picturesque streets of this neighborhood. Originally founded in 1749, the town has captured its historic past and embraced it, bringing it with them into the future. Homes in this area are comprised of restored 18th-century row houses, revival estates, sprawling colonials, and modern new condos designed to fit perfectly with the style of the surrounding area.

What to Love

  • Stunning architecture
  • Pristine local scenery
  • Minutes from D.C.
  • Dedication to the preservation of the town’s history

Lifestyle

Alexandria is equally vibrant and lively. The community offers residents a unique blend of high-end boutiques and eclectic dining options all within the same walkable area. Widely considered one of the most fun D.C. suburbs, with great proximity to the conveniences offered in D.C. while still holding onto the many small-town charms this neighborhood provides.

Dining, Entertainment & Shopping

Alexandria’s dining scene is just as diverse and vibrant as the community itself, with numerous highly-rated restaurants and eateries in every corner of the neighborhood. Del Ray Cafe is a local favorite, offering seasonal menu options such as organic egg omelets, homemade french onion soup, and roasted diver sea scallops. Serving breakfast, lunch, or dinner, you can grab a bite of their delicious eats at any time.

The Majestic Cafe, which opened in 1932, has been a staple of Alexandria for generations, and they continue to be one of the most popular restaurants in the area, serving dishes such as ricotta dumplings, pan-roasted striped bass, and steamed blue mussels.

The Landini Brothers Restaurant offers an authentic and classic take on exceptional Italian cuisine. Their menu consists of dishes including P.E.I. mussels in marinara, tortellini in brodo, and an outstanding shrimp scampi. Another great option for Italian is Mia’s Italian Kitchen. Their unique twist to classic dishes has made it one of the most popular spots in the city, with dishes like their giant 18 oz meatball, short rib and provolone fundito, and an array of house-made pasta.

Things to Do

While Alexandria’s residents can easily take advantage of the community’s proximity to Washington D.C., there’s certainly no need to wander far from the town to find something to do. Alexandria has a fantastic entertainment and recreational scene for residents to take advantage of.

The King Street Mile in the heart of the village is considered one of the most fantastic streets in the entire country. Filled with one-of-a-kind shops and unique eateries, you and your loved ones are guaranteed a wonderful day out strolling through these beautiful streets.

Residents can also take a trip back in time when they visit Gadsby’s Tavern Museum. This site consists of two buildings from the late 1700s, giving visitors a first-hand look at what life would have been like in the area directly after the Revolution.
